Flash Fiction

The world is huge.
Massive.
With an infinite number of possibilities and opportunities.
But, it can also be cruel and harsh.

Distance
can be such a deal (and heart) breaker.
And such is what happened.

You told me that it is not meant to be.
That the world is full of roughly seven billion other people I could possibly meet and fall in love with.
But how can this be so wrong?
How can you tell me we were a mistake, when every single cell in my body still feels electrified when it remembers the image of your skin against mine,
the same feeling I got 12 months and 5 days ago,
the day we spoken our last goodbye
and you left me standing all alone
in the middle
of an airport terminal?
